Ronald K. Brown/Evidence, A Dance CompanyMonday, October 20 Truckee High School - 2 shows: 9:45 and 11:00 am Ronald K. Brown will offer a variety of life perspectives and cultural dance forms through modern dance, theatre, and kinetic story-telling. He combines modern and urban dance fused in the use of history, tradition, and spiritual dance forms from Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. He will be bringing 4 dancers to each performance.

Through the magic of video and an interactive performer, Living Voices presents unique and stirring presentations that capture the minds and hearts of today’s audiences. A one person theatre on historical figures or movements.
Vagabond OperaWednesday, December 4 North Tahoe High School - 2 shows: 9:45 am and 11:00 am Sing a Song! Sing an Opera! Sing Anything! Vagabond Opera, an imaginative ensemble of unique talents, takes students on an exuberant, interactive exploration of what makes a song. Sharing with the audience the process for developing sounds, rhythms and lyrics, the band also discusses and demonstrates their instruments and how they are used to build a song. The group performs from its global repertoire and in many languages. By suggesting lyrics, musical styles, melody and rhythms, the student audience composes a song, which Vagabond Opera performs on the spot. Vagabond Opera delivers passionate offerings of Bohemian cabaret. Paris hot Jazz, gut bucket swing, Tangos, Ukrainian folk-punk ballads, Klezmer and vigorous originals meet a world of riverboat gambling queens.
Oregon Shadow Theatre1/20/09 - Lake Tahoe School 1:15-1:50 pm Behind the illuminated shadow screen, colorful shadow puppets come to life and tell the story of The Green Bird, A Mexican story. A drum roll and a cymbal crash, the calliope sound of a button accordion, and the play begins: A boy is transformed into a fortune-telling bird by a magician. A brave girl journeys through Mexico to save him. In her travels, she encounters fantastic characters and scenes from Mexico’s rich folkloric tradition.

While providing a charming introduction to the world of music and musical instruments, this enchanting tale is all about the adventure of growing up Danger becomes reality and creative innovation becomes essential as young Peter meets the challenge of survival in the outside world.

Alpin HongWednesday, April 1 North Tahoe High School - 2 shows: 9:45 and 11:00 am Pianist Alpin Hong has earned the reputation as a modern day Pied Piper. Opening the ears, eyes and imaginations of hundreds of thousands of Americans, his combination of stunning technique, emotional range, and rare humor continues to bring audiences young and old to their feet.
On EnsembleWednesday, May 13 - Truckee High School - 2 shows: 9:45 am and 11:00 am Featuring four of the most promising young taiko artists the On Ensemble combines seemingly disparate artistic elements into a cohesive whole. Musical influences ranging from jazz to electronic come together with the aural power of the taiko (Japanese drum) and the visual aesthetic of Japanese dance. The result is an innovative and unique performance that cannot be easily classified or forgotten.
